> I know that this board has been saturated with mail on Topamax, and I have tried to read it all to see if anyone has mentioned itchy skin - can't find it. Am I alone in this???? I have been on Topamax for just 2 weeks and am up to 50 mg. The last few days I have had this intense itchy skin that is driving me crazy!!! No rash, and is especially worse after a shower - I'm layering on the moisturising lotion, but doesn't seem to help. It will go away for a few hours only to suddenly reappear. Is it the Topamax? Has anyone else had this? Will it pass? Help PLEASE!!

Limey,

I was on TOP at 25mg twice daily and I had to stop it because of cognitive dulling AND mild itchiness. My pdoc told me not to take it again. She is very paranoid about any rash-like event. She said it could be parasthesia (tingling-numbness) instead, but she didn't want to take that chance-tell your doc right away! Let them make the decision. It *might* pass with some lotion and continued administration.

Mitch
