wellbutrin, ativan, and addictions

Posted by gdog on June 8, 2001, at 15:44:24

hi. i'm a recovering addict and alcoholic, diag as bi-polar II, with major depressive
episodes and anxiety. in the last round of drug trials (paxil, now wellbutrin) i've
experienced major panic and anxiety. i am not on any mood stabilizer. my pdoc
prescribed ativan, for the panic. my trouble is knowing when to take the ativan (short of
"as needed"). the anxiety is always present, and i consistantly want to take the ativan
(like any good drug addict would ;) . .. although it definitely helps, i'm wondering if there
isn't something else that would calm the anxiety without triggering my addictions. i've
tried kava, without effect. anyone have any experience with this? any advice on
knowing when to take the ativan (short of running screaming from a room or curling up
in a ball under my desk)? gdog
