You just have to try it and see.

I have bipolar troubles and it tends to aggravate hypomania when I am high and worsen my melancholy when I am down(but helps social and OCD-like anxiety). However, you said that other SSRI's made you anxious and agitated. Would it be safe to say that your doc has switched you to Celexa from Prozac or Zoloft (which tend to be more activating for *most* folks)? I have found it is beter for sleep than those two, but I still can get agitated and restless from it. You might be better off with a non-SSRI antidepressant.

If so, do they ever disappear. I tend to be anxious and agitated on ssri's. How does celexa measure? Iam scared.

Hi! I have taken 100mg of Celexa daily to combat OCD. I have tried several other drugs before with minimal results and so far Celexa has been the best choice for me. I have a few side effects but they are hardly noticable and are not at all intolerable. The side effects that I have experienced are slight drowsiness, occasional restless legs, and some slight sexual delay (which is not a bad thing most of the time, except when tired!) It is a very good drug and I think it will be a worthwhile try for you. I basically stopped other drugs (like Paxil, Serzone, and Effexor for example) because I would get a little too drowsy on them.....they were fairly effective but the drowsiness was a little too much....The Celexa relaxes my mind (racing thoughts, anxiety, sleep problems) which is great but will still make me a little drowsy on occasion. I sleep great with it so that kinda negates the drowsiness during the day somewhat. As far as weight is concerned, as you can tell I am on a high dosage relative to others due to my high drug resistance (with every kind of drug - who knows why) and over the ten months I pretty much have maintained my weight. I probably weigh about 5 lbs less than last summer when I started. I do, however, eat very healthy food and excercise quite regularly which is good for the weight control obviously. Each person is different as the old saying goes, but I know a few people on it, and my doctor who has many patients on it, and most of them maintain their weight.........well, good luck with the Celexa....it is a great drug and I hope you get the same results I did! Take care!
