Hi bella,
I am currently taking 100mg a day of Celexa for OCD and was recently diagnosed with ADHD. I am 27 but there has always been suspicion that I have had ADHD (when I was younger, they thought I was deaf because I didnt listen or pay attention to anything)....I always got decent grades and currently have a successful career, but it could have been so much easier with treating it now seeing the improvement with taking the mediciation. Celexa is a great drug but I was still having trouble concentrating on things even though it relaxed my overly active mind. My obsessions and constant worrying were reduced significantly. The only side effects I have experienced are a little drowsiness, restless legs sometimes, and very slight sexual delays (which are not necessarily bad at times!).....I have been on Celexa for about ten month, and working with my doctor, we decided to try and treat the concentration problem I was continuing to have.....well I have recently tried Ritalin and liked it very much....the problem with it is that it only lasted a couple of hours at the most and coming off it was slightly uncomfortable (little headache and a little shaky)........we then tried Adderall, which I am currently taking, and are continuing to work on the dosage.....Right now I take 40 mg in the morning and 40 mg at around 2 or so.......I like the drug in the fact that it is a smoother onset and lasts a lot longer (about 6 hours)than Ritalin. It doesnt pack quite the punch for me that Ritalin did but it works fairly well....when it is wearing off, I get a little headache (no matter the dosage) and a little shaky but it is only slightly noticable.......as you can tell, I am very drug resistent and need large doses of virtually any kind of drug to get an effect. Sorry to ramble but I frustrated at work. I thought I would just share a little background. Anyway, to answer your questions, I think that adding Celexa to Adderall would be an excellent approach for social anxiety. The Celexa alone seems to be great for that (Paxil works great too but I got way too drowsy) and when I take Adderall (or any stimulant) with it, it seems to further potentiate the pleasant effects of the Celexa with regards to social anxiety. You have to give the Celexa some time to kick in (it took about 3 days to a week for me but others say it can take several weeks) and then find the dosage that is right for you (it took me a while) but I think it would definetly benefit your social anxiety. Paxil is another good drug for that as well. As far as the weight goes, I am very active, watch what I eat so I have actually lost about 5 or so pounds while on the 100mg for 10 months.......the stimulants seem to have slightly curbed my appetite so I have to watch that so I get enough nutrition. People are all different though....Sorry to be long winded but I needed to write........Good luck and be patient with the Celexa! Hope to hear from you!
