Effexor and Trazodone

I have been taking Effexor XR 300 mg per day for over a year and now I am taking Trazodone 150 mg(for about 3 months). I have heard about this seratonin syndrome and I was wondering how this plays into it all? Is seratonin syndrome the effects of going off of the anti-depressants?
