I don't want to be on this Forever!

Posted by Gbear on April 18, 2001, at 15:59:04

I have been on effexor for about a year. Yes it's helped with panic attacks, moodiness, and concentration. Those who are concerned about loss of orgasm, take heart, it seems to return after a few months when the brain learns to relax.
Every three months I see my doctor for a review. At each visit I asked "how long will I be on this stuff?" My doctor kept coming up with excuses, You're so busy at work, Moving, not good time to quit. Actually the only side effect I seem to have is forgetfulness because things aren't running around in my brain as they used to. This scatterbrain condition has caused me to miss some doses though and that wasn't fun. Facial numbness, a swimmy headed feeling, etc...
So I asked again "how long?" He said, if it's working why not forever. I am very uncomfortable about this. Won't I ever be right in the head? I thought this was a short term drug to get me back on track?
