I can definitely help you with this one... my baby is 16 months old, and I just recently started feeling more myself. Postpartum depression can last up to a year or more. (The "baby blues," which are different, really only last a couple of weeks.)

And yes, medication can help -- I think you made an excellent decision to start medication now, while your baby is still young. Then you'll start to feel better when she's starting be become more aware of everything, around 6 months or so.

Do you know of any support groups in your area? I was in one, and it helped tremendously, just knowing I was not alone in my strange and scary feelings.

I wish you the very best ... please keep me posted here, and ask any questions you have. If we stop talking about any medication issues, we can talk on the social board, or I can give you my e-mail address.

take care!

> My doctor just started me on celaxa yesterday. I had a baby 4 months ago and he thinks my depression is baby blues (postpardon depression) I'm confused I always thought it only last a little awhile not this long. Has anyone ever had it this long and do those pills really work for depression?? Thanks
