In reply to stiff neck with celexa, posted by clarrie on March 27, 2001, at 8:25:27

I have not had that problem with Celexa. I have done a lot of reading and have never heard of that side effect. I guess anything is possible so maybe it is the Celexa causing it. Or maybe something else. Since it is working for you, you should keep taking it and deal with the neck problem separately.

SSRI's can cause teeth grinding in some people. So I guess this "tension" side effect could also manifest as a sore neck. If Celexa is the culprit, hopefully this neck problem will go away as your body adjusts to the Celexa.

> Does anyone else get a stiff neck with celexa? I have been taking 40 mg for about 2 months and noticed a stiff neck after a couple of weeks. I should really appreciate any replies. Apart from that, Celexa has been wonderful for me and for combatting social anxiety and panic.
