Hi Judy,

Thanks. No, it's not too cold lately - 40's maybe during the day, which is very spring-like for us at this time of year. Saw a guy riding his bike & wearing shorts yesterday...

My dx is dysthymia - mostly constant fatigue and no motivation/concentration - constantyly run-down, no energy, etc. Don't do much outside of my apt - due to no motivation/desire/energy to do so.

Partially responding to 400mg wellbutrin SR per day. I'm less tired and can focus/concentrate better, but still lots of room for improvement on both fronts to get to "normal".

Possibly some add-inattentive-type, type of chemistry, but I don't fit an add diagnosis. Dexidrine & ritalin both gave me energy & focus, and I found them to be surprisingly relaxing/calming (not like lots of coffee, as I had anticipated from stimulants). But I've only had short trials of them thus far.

Currently trying to augment the wellbutrin. Would like to try adding mirapex... Amisulpride makes me very sleepy, however, sulpiride seemed to be a further step in the right direction, in terms of energy. Venlafaxene just made me sleepy, although I miss the very vivid dreams it gave me.

Next is low-dose extended release ritalin - don't expect much though. For some reason, the extended release forms of dex & ritalin make me edgy/wired, whereas the regular release forms did not - quite the opposite...? (even at substantially lower doses than I had success with when trying the regular release)

Anyway, probably more than you wanted to know.

Thanks for the ideas. If Dr. Clayton's expertise is bipolar, might not be an ideal fit, but I guess I'm more concerned w/a doc's attitude/openmindedness, to try other than cookbook psych as far as meds are concerned (eg: my interest in trying mirapex - something new...)

Any feel for Clayton's position on that type of thing? (plus, I'll have to see if my ins. will work w/any particular doc...) Thanks again. michael

> Can you write what your dx is? Paula Clayton is a bipolar expert at the University of Minnesota, and I am familiar with her. Otherwise, I would call the U of M's psychiatry dept and ask for a referral for someone with expertise with your disorder. Is it freezing there?- judy
