Hi --
I can definitely relate to your horrible stories of PMDD hell. I know I had it for years, before it even had a technical name. It stopped being so severe when I started antidepressants. Now I just get extremely fatigued and blue during that time. I scared away a lot of boyfriends too, with screaming and yelling fits for no reason. Like I had no control over myself.

Anyway, I can't imagine protein being bad ... I see a nutritionist who knows of my problems with PMS. I went to her mainly for help with fatigue, and she has me eating protein all throughout the day, and staying away from starches except for with full meals (for me that's just dinner).

I still crave carbos really bad the week or two before my period -- the other day I had a hot fudge ice cream puff for dinner. Sometimes nature just wins out.

Anyway, my vote is that protein is FINE, and sugar and caffeine are killers. I still can't give them up, though.

Please keep me posted on your progress with your treatment.

in your corner,
cindy

My skin would crawl and I had terrible restless sleeps. I could have as many 4 mood swings per sentance which would often end in tears. Sometimes I would cry out loud for it to stop and always knew that within two days of my period starting I would be "normal" again. It was like Aunt Ruby was a tornado that ripped through town and when she left, I would have to look back at the messes she (I) made and have a ton of damage control to do once it was over...

Dr told me that diary, red meats, anything high protein, coffee and chocolate all seem to antagonize the sypmtoms of PMDD. I can not find any medical information to support this hypothesis and wondered if anyone else out there knows about high protien/diet and PMDD.
