> I have been taking Wellbutrin about 5 years. When I 1st started, I had great energy despite only being able to sleep 3-4 hours a night. It worked almost too well, I could not even think about drinking a cup of coffee. Noww though, I take 450 mgs. Wellbutrin, 50 mgs. Adderall, and 30 mgs. Remeron and do not get anything like the relief I did previously. I guess it is just too bad about amineptine and the like, or is there anything similar available in the US? Has anyone had an experience like mine, and can anyone suggest an augmentation strategy ( M.A.O.I.s, Effexor or what-ever)? Nothing with a fatal consequence, preferably, my Dr. won't go for that, and suicide is not an acceptable outcome at this time. anyone?

Bruce - you haven't told us why you were started on Wellbutrin, but for the sake of my 2 cents, I'll assume unipolar depression. Thing is, your experience is very similar to the ride I had on Prozac. Dx'd w/depression, I was put on P'zac, immediately went hypomanic, which went almost unrecognized by both me and my doc. After nearly 4 years, the effectiveness ceased. I then tried a series of other SSRIs designed for unipolar depressions, changed docs, and was promptly dx'd as bipolar II. I don't know if Wellbutrin would have the same effect on an undiagnosed BP as P'zac, but you might want to ask your doctor or others here. To me, the question isn't "what can you add to the Wellbutrin" but "why isn't the Wellbutrin working the way it should any longer?" -- Good luck.
