In my experience Neurontin is a drug that makes me feel relaxed and peaceful, and more comfortable around people. It has anti-anxiety properties like valium, klonapin, etc. but doesn't give the same heavy, sleepy feeling of those drugs. The main problem with Neurontin for me was/is memory. specifically name recall. I also found it made it more difficult to concentrate when reading. Now I only take it on social occasions. I don't know about Lamictal; but if memory is a concern for you, I'd be wary of neurontin.
