I'm not familiar with what's in the pipeline. I know a company called Sepracor is constantly working on creating new versions of existing drugs, except without the side effects.
Of course, it depends on what country you're talking about. New drugs for the USA? I can tell you for sure there are wonderful meds throughout the world that will never be subjected to the 15 years and 15 million dollars it takes to get through the overstuffed suits of the FDA. The cool part though is that we don't need to wait for the FDA's approval. Millions of people over decades have already proven the medicines' worth and safety. It's simply a matter of getting them from there to here, which is easy with a computer, a credit card, and a mailbox. :-)
