The Prozac helps me with depression. I don't feel as anxious either. I am never coming off this med. I learned my lesson with Paxil which I weaned off very gradually [twice]. I am much happier it seems, and am thinking positive, not negative as I used to do. I went for therapy [cognitive] and am going for a 2nd time, but I don't think I need it that much since feeling so much better about everything. I am very grateful for Prozac, and I hope it stays this way for me! Thank you all so much for your support.

At the very least, in cases of moderate to severe depression, I should think it prudent to take an antidepressant for a minimum of 14 months. And in such cases, the process of discontinuing the medication should follow a very gradual weaning schedule. The odds of post-continuation relapse are *dramatically* reduced when a slow withdrawal of medication is employed. This includes lithium. If the depression falls into certain catergories, it is true that one best consider that treatment be continued indefinitely.
