Your thyroid situation is more involved than what I know about thyroid and depression, and you are being checked periodically, but you might want to take a look at Mary Shomon's web site--
particularly the guidelines for test results, which can be found at:

I don't know whether your endocrinologist is is overly conservative or not, but the information on that site covers issues like subclinical hypothyroidism that can cause psychiatric symptoms like depression.
Also, check out the thyroid and depression folder (link at top of Psychobabble page).
It may be that none of this is applicable, but I think it is worth looking into, anyway.
