Selegiline (MAOI-B) for DOGS!

Posted by MarkinBoston on November 22, 2000, at 9:09:01

I noticed in Martha Stuart Living magazine (bathroom read) an ad from Pfizer for veterinary labeled L-Deprenyl for doggies with Cainaine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome. There is a big picture of a dopey looking Basset Hound. Some symptoms of CDS include: not recognizing owners, insomnia, loses interest in family, and lapses in housetraining.
The site is www.anipryl.com.

Veterinary drugs are usually less expensive than those marketed to Americans, but perhaps the Land Rover set will pay those prices out of pocket (no HMO coverage) for their pets. Its illegal to use veterinary drugs in humans, so it never, ever occurs. Just like drugs marketed outside the US at much lower prices, the quality is not the premium Americans demand and the FDA insures.
