In reply to Pseudoephedrine - sinus meds - Cam? Anyone?, posted by Kath on November 19, 2000, at 13:14:31

Kath - Here in Canada the took phenylpropanolamine off the shelf, not psuedoephedrine.

In the U.S., phenylpropanoloamine is found in diet pills and some people were taking to many of them and I believe it was causing heart irregualrities. In Canada, we don't have a prepartion that is straight phenylpropanolamine, as the products were have are cold and allergy related products.

If they ban pseudoephedrine, then we would have no decongestants to use for colds (okay, we have those crappy sprays that don't clear all sinus cavities). If this is the case, but stock in steam vaporizer companies. I doubt both would be banned so close together.

There has been one death attributed to phenylpropanolamine and this was 18 years ago. Another example of the government protecting me from myself (Hell, Dimetapp was the only thing that works for me when I have colds).

Hope this helps - Cam
