Sabrina,
Meridia is kind of like Effexor, in that it is a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, NE, and dopamine. Sometimes people who are prescribed Meridia for weight control discovere by pleasant surprise that their depression disappears.

But since it does affect serotonin, it should be approached with a sense of caution when combined with any other serotonin drug such as Serzone. And we don't know to what extent one or the other might affect the metabolism of the other. They can certainly be taken together, and who knows, it might turn out to be a real good combo. But you would be wise to approach dosing with caution. That is, start very low, perhaps half the minimum dose, and increase doses in small increments after remaining at a certain dose for 4 to 7 days. A 'low n slow' strategy will provide some safety and allow you to adjust to any side effects easier. You can work up to higher doses over time as you become accustomed and familiar with the combination and how you feel.
