OCD Stimulants (dexedrine)…

Posted by Janice on July 12, 2000, at 23:22:21

I noticed while taking Dexedrine for my ADHD that it exacerbated my OCD (trichotillomania) symptoms to a degree that I have never experienced before.

In fact, my OCD was so bad that I was unable to continue on with Dexedrine, although it had helped me so significantly with my ADHD symptoms. During the time I was on the Dexedrine, often I wouldn't want to leave the house so I could stay home to perform my OCD ritual. Sometimes I would hold my body in the same position for such long periods I would feel a great deal of physical discomfort. But, of course, I felt powerless over this obsession.

As soon as I quit the Dexedrine, the OCD returned to its normal levels. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?

Thanks in advance, Janice
