So he was without the daily Zyrtec for a least a week, but I'm not sure how long, it may have been more. Usually he is tense and irritable and lately he's been a pretty mellow fellow. Yesterday we started the Zyrtec again because he was getting congested. Today, his teacher told me that he was covering his ears in class (usually a sign of noise stress for him) and he seems to be in a funk.

James here....

Hmmm....I've been Dexadrine and all allergy meds together with little problem but many ADD'ers
have reactions (sleepy or wired) to many antihistamines, even the nonsedating ones like Zyrtec. I would suspect it could be just the Zyrtec or he is getting additional stimulation from the Zyrtec which is too much as he is on Adderal. Zyrtec, Allegra, and Clairtin are all nonsedating/few side effects, so try another, I listed them in my order of preferance, Allegra is short acting, a day at most, so you know quickly
how he reacts and any negatives stop with in a day or so. Clairtin is long acting and a weaker antihistamine.

Cam quoted the side effects that happen in 1% of the studies. Some people with ADD seem to be very sensitve to meds and will often have these rare side effects.
