> I mentioned a month or more ago I was in the ER with a hurt back and discovered I have hypertension, 170/122 on repeted trys. They are really conserned about the lower #. Met with my primary and discussed a consern I have about all the men (3) on dads side having anyrisims. This with all men being tall and most having skeletal problems suggests Marfan's. I kind of went out on a limb sugesting Marfans and am really more conserned about 3 men having the same thing. This seems to say real loud "Check this out" To my surprize doc agreed with me on the possibility of Marfans and actually knew alot about it. He also ordered a stress-echo which is the definitive marfan test; considering I am on an HMO and the doc is payed by capitation I was impressed. But.....

I keep on playing this scene in my head... they start the echo and say "Don't get near that treadmill!" when they see my aorta. And I have been taking Dex all these years !

> It is stupid that a 35 y/o man should have this level of hypertension and trigliserides over 1000 unmedicated. I allready have a great plan to start walking... 3 X a week walking down the driveway and back ( I'm rural so that means 1/4 mile roundtrip). Great plan, just need to do it ! I cannot take Dex until we look under the hood and check the plumbing so focus is at a minumim (I'm ADD with depression, the depression well controled by meds X 15 years)

> So kick my butt, please. I know better than this. It's almost 2 months and I need to schedule this test (echo) It will answer a lot of questions. I also need to start walking. This will be time # 4 that I have to lose weight and I have been sucessful every time. This time I have educated myself and learned to cook to I will not be dieting so much as starting a new way of eating for the rest of my life. I have the power to avoid the triple bypass dad had.

James,
Your kind words and advice helped me out a lot a while back and I'm very sorry to hear about the problems you are currently having. I have a stress echo test scheduled for April 5th, and I am scared to death of what I'm going to find out. But I know it HAS to be done, and you need to find out as well. Get up off your backside and get this test scheduled! I don't know you as well as the others, but I want you to be happy and healthy. I will let you know how mine turns out and I expect you to do the same. Good luck and best wishes.
Greg
