--------------------First the Feds want to privitize the net, then they want to regulate it. I guess they can make more money from taxing a private enterprise than they can from operating it as a wholey-owned subsidiary of the US of A.[never mind the early years of the TVA, before power company lobbiests started messing with it.]

Hmmm ... I think I just got a great idea. Maybe we could convince the Vatican to open up a shop. As a holy-owned subsidiary of the Throne of St. Peter, we could force the feds to keep their hands off of our religious practices. Especially with JP-II apologizing for the sins of the Church over the past few millenia, we might have a good shot at a sympathetic audience on this. Following up on JanetR's connections between a Catholic upbringing and depression (and my own experiences of the same), we might be able to turn that most powerful of the Church's scourges -- Guilt -- right back at them.
Besides, with dropping attendance at Mass and, therefore, less being tithed to the Church, they could probably use the money, too. Add to that the increasing average age of those of the cloth, the Vatican could probably use a source of meds that they could receive "at cost" with no middleman markup. It's a win-win situation.
It's not like they're all that new to dispensing cures for what ails anyway ... I mean, just go back to the dispensation of indulgences, modernize the operation with computers, update the database, and get a secure storefront up on the web. Simple thing, nowadays.
