In Dr Bob's tips section results with trytophan potentiation are mixed.

A more direct way is to supplement with 5HTP instead of tryptophan. 5HTP is a more direct version of tryptophan. Doctors won't like this idea though. I currently take 35mg 5HTP each day with my 20mg Prozac. Experimenting with this I have discovered that any more than 35mg for me is too much. It causes night sweating and I think is close to the overload point. But the 35mg I think allows me to stay at 20mg rather than going up to 40mg or 60mg Prozac. I actually feel better with 20mg Prozac + 35mg 5HTP than I do at any dose of Prozac alone. But one must be careful combining them. A little is all it takes. Easy does it. This can be dangerous if done with a naive approach. Trytophan is I think less effective, but safer. 5HTP I think is a lot better, but must be approached with very small doses at first to feel it out before making any other adjustments.
