Hugh - Some people have responded to augmentation therapy, others have responded to some of the SSRIs and others have responded to a drug holiday, then reinstitution of the MAOI in atypical depression. Talk to your doctor about these options. Many combinations have been tried, with varying degrees of success in different people. A lot of people who frequent this room have been in the same boat as you. Listen to their successes (and failures), write them down, and take them into your doctor for discussion. Perhaps someone else's success will work for you as well. There are many more ways to treat atypical depression than there were just 5 years ago. Don't give up hope. Good luck - Cam W.
