> Has anyone had any success treating a rash associated with Effexor. I started taking it (175mg/day) only recently, and these hive-like bumps just appeared on my torso. Do they go away, spread, or what? I have been pleased with the Effexor aside from this and am willing to wait and see, but I thought I'd ask for some input from anyone who has come up against this. Thanks

Kate - I do not believe a rash from Effexor is a normal side-effect. It sounds to me like you are having an allergic reaction. Contact your doctor ASAP, if at all possible before your next dose. If you have trouble breathing or you feel your throat swelling, go to an emergency department right away. If anyone tells you to take Benadryl or similar antihistamine keep the dose low (25mg) as Effexor can inhibit the metabolism of the Benadryl (only a minor possibility). Have this situation looked at soon, it could potentially serious. - Cam W.
