l-carnitine and lithium

Posted by Merske on January 31, 2000, at 11:17:06

I'm taking 450 mg. lithium per day on maintenance for manic-depression (2nd year of treatment). I'd like to take l-carnitine to augment weight loss trial (first four months on lithium really packed on the pounds). But L-carnitine seems to have something to do with sodium, and sodium has something to do with lithium... Will l-carnitine 1 gr/day increase, decrease, or not effect lithium?

Anyone know abything about this?

Thanks,
Merske
