Is the reason for all the buzz because it is the newest antidepressant, or does reboxetine have desirable qualities other antidepressants don't? what is reboxetine classified as.....SSRI, SNRI, something else?

Reboxetine is a NARI (Noradrenergic Reuptake Inhibitor). It prevents the reuptake of norepinephrine, and is very selective indoing so (it has no effect on serotonin, maybe a small positive effect on dopamine).

The norepinephrine system is related to energy, reward, drive , and motivation. My own experiences with Reboxetine seem to back this up. Side effects are the anti-cholinergic ones (constipation, dysuria, retrograde ejaculation) and insomnia. As always, YMMV.
