Amineptine and amisulpride are antidepressants that are dopamine based. Amineptine blocks the uptake of dopamine and amisulpride selectively antagonizes the presynaptic D2-D3 dopamine receptors in the limbic system and striatum. I've used both, and while they both were effective, I've found amisulpride, compared to amineptine, to have less side effects and to be better for anxiety. These antidepressants are only available from overseas. I have put together an information piece on amisulpride for patients and their psychiatrists.
