You should read his books (or at least one of them) before you can make a statement like that. Breggin has loads of statistics and scientific evidence to back up his claims. In fact, I think his overloaded use of statistics make his books a little dull. Anyway, I respect his opinion immensely; I would classify Breggin as bringing a little balance back to the psychiatric picture.
Also, I've stood up so many times for Breggin on this site that my feet are sore. I'm not anti-medicine either (been on approx 15 different psychotropics), like I said, I believe Breggin is just trying his best to get people to look at emotional illness less as a medical problem and more as a spiritual/emotional/psychological problem that often doesn't need a medicinal approach. After all, he is an M.D. and has prescribed medication for his patients. But he will never start a patient on medicine. He only takes over when a patient wants to slowly get off their drugs.
