i'm new to psychobabble, so please excuse me if my comments are repetititive. have been taking marplan 80 mg/day for 4 months. has eliminated my social phobia and has also decreased my "interpersonal sensitivity." apparently us social phobics are a little more likely to become irritated or annoyed - overly sensitive. some would refer to us as "high maintenance" types. unlike the other maoi's, ssri's, and snri's, marplan has achieved this amazing effect. i also don't feel as emotionally numb as on other AD's. there is some sexual dysfunction, but not as severe as with nardil or most ssri's. i will see my doc about an augmentation strategy to minimize this. also, no dry mouth, weight gain, or insomnia. dry mouth and insomia were major complaints i had with parnate. nardil was major weight gain and 100% anorgasmia, along with about 50% erectile dsyfunction.
would like to hear from others who have experience marplan (by the way, 80 mg was much more effective for me than 60 mg - there's not a linear therapeutic effect associated with dosage.
thanks for sharing any thoughts. new guy
