I recall reading that most (if not all) of the liver failures with Cylert involved very young children. I don't know if this serious reaction has to do ONLY with age, but it appears to be primarily a problem for the younger set. Problems with Cylert can usually be averted by close monitering of liver function during the initial days or weeks of treatment. The vast majority of people who take Cylert do perfectly well on it.
So, yes, those reported adverse reactions ARE believable and it is only ethical for Abbott to report them. But, that doesn't mean over-reaction and hysteria should take hold. For most who need it and take it, Pemoline is a great med.
