I began seeing a cognitive therapist 9 months ago in addition to my psychiatrist. I have found CT to be enormously helpful both in terms of identifying the thoughts that lead to the depressed and hopeless feelings, and also in terms of it being a more active mode of treatment. It moves you away from "understanding" and adds the dimention of action. I've come to think of my therapist as my coach. It feels like the action orientation has helped move me from the stuck mode. (I am also on medication)

I'm curious to know how you all feel about Cognitive Therapy experiences. So far my own experience has been brief in duration, but surprisingly helpful. After years of vanilla "talk therapy" which got me no where (expect I paid a lot of $$ for people to listen to me whine), I think I've found something which may actually help me.
