Because it doesn't have to build up in your system to work, you can use it when symptons get too tough to bear and it works quickly without diminishing your ability to function at a high level. It doesn't deaden or change your emotions, it simply decreases or most of the time, eliminates that panic or anxiety cycle so that you can think clearly.
I think that those of us who suffer from panic disorders need to make the determination that we WILL look inside and bring those deepest fears ( the ones that control us) to light, if we're ever truly going to be free.

> Hi there. Xanax is considered to have low addiction potential. Occasionally, some people who use it and find that it makes them feel euphoric (rare at normally prescribed doses) may abuse it frequently and get addicted. Some people abuse it in combination with other drugs (alcohol, cocaine), which can be dangerous too. As I said, this is rare, and pretty much unheard of in people who have legitimate prescriptions for Xanax for anxiety.
> People who impulsively self-injure may be at risk for increased impulsivity if they take Xanax, which can be dangerous in this population for obvious reasons.
> I'm not sure if it would help with suicidal thoughts or not. It can help reduce the initial anxiety many people get on antidepressants while waiting for the antidepressants to kick in (some people think this anxiety may increase the risk for suicide in the first few weeks on antidepressants).
