> It seems more helpful to me to think of meds and other approaches as potentially complementary, rather than posing "drugs OR spirituality" as alternatives. Why not both? Meds just fix (or compensate for) a kink in the physical structure or chemistry of the brain. And that can give you the energy, focus, perspective, etc. to tackle the big questions like, what am I here for? what should I do with my life? etc. that all people, with and without brain "kinks," have to face in life. I don't see any reason to think that meds will answer those questions any more than a diabetic's insulin will. Psychological, spiritual, existential questions unite all of us, regardless of our physical limitations.

I am having side effects with Paxil and need to get off them. I have been doing great but am nervous to quit. I also am questioning the validity of the pill-mania. These are man made pills for a natural body. Somewhere there has got to be long lasting effects such as cancer. I know we have diseases like OCD, Panic, Depression but are we tackling the diseases with more with pills or more with spirituality and other alternatives. I would love to get off them but am scared

Dittos on your wonderful comment Victoria. Couldn't agree with you more. Thanks. JohnL.
