Hi Mary. From what I've read, most clinically relevant responses with Celexa occur in the 40mg-60mg range. I've also read that with any SSRI, a duration of 3 months is needed, contrary to the 4 - 6 weeks normally suggested. I was on Celexa for only a couple weeks myself, and quit for sexual reasons, so I'm not a Celexa veteran, but I have read a lot about it. The primary cause of treatment failure is insufficient dose and/or insufficient duration. Both of those are determined by your tolerance for the side effects. If you are tolerant of with the side effects, stay with it. It seems an ironic torture though, that we who need relief NOW have to wait weeks or months just to find out if our medicine will work the way we want and be able to co-live with the side effects as part of the deal. Hey, you're not at all alone. Hang in there. With you in thoughts. JohnL.
