Serzone Psychotics!!!!!

Posted by Amanda on February 7, 1999, at 18:24:08

Hello everyone, i hope all's well. This weekend i had a horrible experiance with Serzone. My doctor and I are trying newer, more effective meds for my panic disorder, which I was diagnosed with about 5-6 years ago. Since then I've been taking a combination of nortriptyline & klonopin. I take 2 mg of klonopin a day, and 75mg-100mg of nortriptyline. The nortriptyline made me tired and less active with absolutely every aspect of my life. Because of that, my doctor and I have been trying new antidepressants to replace the nortriptyline. I first tried Effexor----AHHHHHH!!! Needless to say, that particular medication was not for me. It made me feel like I was on acid and having a panic attack all the while. So, I went back to nortriptyline, until just about a week ago. My doctor perscrbed serzone for me, and up until this weekend the only side effect was insomnia, which didn't really bother me at the time because not being able to sleep was nothing like the horrendous experiance I had with other meds. Anyway, out of nowhere this weekend the Serzone made me feel like I was on acid and having multitudes of panic attacks. I'm getting so frustrated with all of this. I just want to feel "normal" again. I know I'll probably never be off medication for the rest of my life, but that's alright, I can accept that. My big problem is that I need an antidepressent that combats both panic disorder and depression. With this disorder my life has become so limited. I guess what I'd like to know is---has anyone ever had the same side effects i had with Effexor or Serzone? Also, if so, have you found anything that works. I realize everyone is different, but what I'd really like to hear is that someone with problems similiar to mine has found success. God, I hope so. Even if things aren't working out for me, I'd love to hear that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, has been like me, but has finally found success. Good luck to all of you, and thank you for your time. It means a lot to me.
Amanda
