Amitriptyline-Sadness/extreme mood swings?

I am following up to my own post, oh well.. I've been on the amitriptyline for 5 days and am feeling pretty down, teary-eyed, ect... Is this normal and will it go away after the meds go into full effect? Why does it take so long for these meds to work? I feel like my Dr. doesn't have time to answer my questions and so I am coming to you all with them. How long does amitriptyline work, as in how many hours does 50mg cover? Why do I have to take it before bed? Why am I having extreme mood-swings? (I didn't when I was taking Verapamil). Will the extreme mood swings go away and if yes, when?

Thank you one and all,
