> I've been on 100mg (yellow)of Zoloft/day for almost 2 years with great results. Mood swings around PMS time became a problem. Added Triphasal28 (birth control) and was back on easy street for four months, then the depression started coming back. Didn't increase Zoloft to alleviate depression because of sexual side effects (no sexual desire at all). Added Wellbutrin, one purple(50mg?) to no effect except ONE DAY OF INTENSE SEXUAL AROUSAL, very odd, what I imagine being a teenage boy is like. After 1 month, Dr. added buspar (15mg). Within a week and a half I had hives that itched like crazy and lasted 2 weeks. I stopped the Buspar when the hives appeared. Another week later when they were still there, I stopped the Wellbutrin. Within about 2 weeks, the depression was creeping back. Dr. gave me Remeron, 30mg at night and I was like a zombie the whole next day. Had to leave work, slept 15 hrs, could hardly get up the next day and had the most bizarre epic symbolic dreams. Same thing happened the next day plus I was real clumsy, sort of weaving when I walked, and my heart was thumping hard and fast, so I stopped. I knew Remeron was supposed to be somewhat sedating, but this much? I really couldn't function. Dr. said side effects are supposed to (strangely enough) decrease with increased dosages. I know side effects are supposed to subside within 1 or 2 months, but I can't possibly put up with that level of sedation. Did I quit the Wellbutrin hastily? Do people generally become tolerant to the sedating effects of remeron quickly? What else can I try with Zoloft to decrease depression and increase sex drive. Zoloft has been my miracle drug except for the sexual side effects. I'm feeling so good it actually matters now. I've read some good things about Ginkgo...any ideas? Thanks in advance.

If I were you I would give Wellbutrin a try, either by itself or with Zoloft. Taking this had returned my libido to normal levels after depression had reduced it. Even though after 2 years the Wellbutrin is pooping out some, my libido is still normal. However, I doubt whether my case is normal because a brief trial of Prozac resulted in discontinuation for lots of reasons, but I remember having insatiable sexual urges, which seems to be the opposite of everyone else. Go figure. See if you can get through the side effects for 4 or 5 weeks to see if they subside. It will be worth the effort if you can be depression free and libido healthy.

Please let us know what works for you and good luck.
