adolescent depression treatment

Posted by mhk on March 19, 1999, at 11:30:29

New to this site--so not sure how to use it.
Need some info. re psychopharmacology for
16-yr-old with major depression. Has been
on zoloft for 1 month (50mg 2 weeks and 100
mg 2 weeks). Bothered by mild hand tremors.
Need to increase to get therapeutic effect,
but uneasy about it because of tremors.
Does anyone have info. about tremors as
a side effect? Should it go away with
longer treatment or should medication be
switched? If switched, which SSRI is less
likely to cause tremors?

One dr has recommended Celexa to switch to
but there is no info on use of Celexa with
adolescents. Has it been used with this age
group? Does anyone have info on its
safety for teenagers? Would it be less
likely to cause tremors? What are the
pros and cons? Please send info and/or email me
directly? Not sure how I will receive
input from this site--mhk
