While I respect Phil's right to share his quite unpleasant experience, I think it bears noting that the vast majority of people have nothing resembling such problems with Luvox and other SSRIs--they are generally known as fairly safe medications, with a good track record in OCD. I'm sure it is difficult to decide about starting your own child on it, but if your son really has clinical OCD, it may prove to be extremely helpful. My one piece of advice if you do begin with it is to make sure you start with quite small doses and work upward from there over days or even weeks--this way you can be extra sure about noting any side-effects and not overdoing it. (Many people, I think, end up taking SSRI dosages that are basically too high for them, especially at the outset of treatment...)
